Presentation slides are now available for download.
The presentation closed the last Session (6) of the Congress - Port performance, port competition and the Harbour Master - and focused on the technical innovation in VTS, pilotage and chart display systems as a way of improving safety and efficiency and mitigating the negative effects of the decline of nautical expertise in the ports industry
The discussed topics included:
- Technological advances in VTS, pilotage and chart display technologies
- Future technical progress and its potential to efficiently address the shortcomings of current systems
- The promise of upcoming technologies to address the decline of nautical expertise, and the lack of interest from younger workforce generations, in the port and shipping industry
The talk, despite being the last after 4 days of intense presentations, was very well received and caused a vivid discussion among the Harbour Masters, Port Operations Managers, Marine Pilots and representatives of maritime authorities including IMO and IALA expressing their enthusiasm about the benefits of 3D Charts and Integrated Maritime Safety Systems that are being developed by GeoVS.
