Renewable Energy (Renewables)
This fast developing market requires visualisation capabilities for project planning, monitoring and evaluation and security and safety.
Offshore wind farms and marine turbines have two key needs: greater security for the critical infrastructure and reducing the risk of repairs. Above surface and subsea assets equally need to be protected from damage – not only are repairs expensive but there are also revenue/cost implications when critical services like electricity is interrupted.
In order to prevent expensive subsea damage, advance warning must be given to vessels when approaching or anchoring near or in a protected marine zone.
Asset monitoring and protection
C-Vu® Surveillance compares the live vessel position from Automatic Identification Systems [AIS] broadcast with pre-defined route position lists of subsea assets and generates automatic warnings from transmission to security control or the vessel, if a vessel’s proximity breaches the pre-set safety zone or distance parameters. These parameters can be set by the facility operator and warnings can be broadcast by beacon or coastguard.
Project simulation and planning
C-Vu® Project shows the surveyed or as-laid route for the export cables from turbines to shore; water depth contours and risk features; seabed sediment thickness and basement depths across the area; the established safety navigation parameters along the routes; the position of underwater assets e.g. marine turbines, electricity cables, pipelines, etc.
In addition, with the use of simulated or real-time external data feeds, it allows for planning and optimisation of placement of tidal energy generating devices and spatial orientations, in a precise and ergonomic way. C-Vu® Project uses a unique combination of direct manipulation and constant visualisation, which exploits the efficiency and intuition of the human brain, while at the same time providing the support of powerful computational algorithms.
GeoVS® intuitive “one click” operating system works in real time, allowing the user to evaluate, change and add features prior to or during project performance, and thereby avoid expensive and time consuming project simulation rebuilds. Actual or hypothetical scenarios may be examined, which allows training and virtual operational practice on project to be achieved without the expense and risks of performing real work.
Evaluation / Presentation
C-Vu® Viewer enables logged and recorded data from C-Vu® Surveillance, as well as visualisations and simulations prepared in C-Vu® Project, to be replayed as recorded or with manual intervention to examine actual or hypothetical scenarios. This is a valuable and practical tool for evaluation, analysis and training, as well as for efficient presentation of maritime data to customers, management, project team members and stakeholders, or in litigation.
Custom Development / R&D
To complement GeoVS® range of visionary products, custom-designed systems can be developed which can feature a series of components tailored specifically to meet special project or operational needs.
